Shopaholic Rehab

I've seen this buying craze rehab program in latest issue of BK magazine. With this program, you'll stop shopping for a whole week from this 28 to Feb 3. Nothing extravagant or indulgent but food and transportation. In Feb 3 there will be No Shopping Fair at Suan Santi Chai Prakarn where you bring some useless things for you that might useful for the others to trade there.

I have to admit that it's a good idea, especially for me who am broke now from self-indulgent purchases. But the thing is, I don't think I can do this, not with this program. Stop shopping abruptly might prevent me from spending for a week but in long terms it might get worse. There's always a lame excuse like rewarding myself after a tough week like this and then splurge all the money at the mall. And what if I can't control myself? What if an it-bag of the season is on sale during the week? Here come the questions. And I'm no longer a shopaholic, I'm sure.

I see no use for me to sign this program up at all. However, if you are interested please pick the latest issue of BK at Au Bon Pain or Asiabooks. Visit www.wechange555.com for further information on No Shopping program.

Still, I agree with the campaign's philosophy that we can be happy without buying things. Consumerism is not only way to feel good. O!
